āAmazon Opens Its Global Supply Chain as a Service in Major AWS-Style Expansion Moveā šØšØšØ
Amazon ($AMZN) is pushing deeper into the logistics industry with the launch of Amazon Supply Chain Services (ASCS), a new offering that allows outside companies to tap directly into the tech giantās massive warehousing and delivery network.
The move effectively turns Amazonās internal logistics engineābuilt to power its e-commerce empireāinto a standalone product that any business can use to move, store, and ship goods. The company described the service as enabling firms to manage everything from raw materials to finished products using the same infrastructure that supports Amazonās own marketplace and third-party sellers.
Industry analysts are already comparing the strategy to Amazon Web Services (AWS), which transformed cloud computing by renting out Amazonās internal infrastructure to the broader tech world. In this case, Amazon is doing the same for physical logistics and global supply chains.
Amazon says the service could help it capture a larger share of the $1.3 trillion third-party logistics market, a massive and fragmented industry traditionally dominated by shipping and freight companies.
Several major corporations are already on board as early adopters, including Procter & Gamble ($PG), 3M ($MMM), and American Eagle ($AEO), signaling strong enterprise interest in outsourcing supply chain operations to Amazonās system.
The expansion further blurs the line between Amazonās retail business and its infrastructure operations, potentially positioning the company as a dominant backend provider for global commerce.
If successful, ASCS could turn Amazon into not just a retailer and cloud providerābut a core operating system for physical goods movement worldwide.
