āMusk Pushes for Teslaās Optimus Robot to Enter and Exit Cybercab for Autonomous Package Deliveryā šØšØšØ
Tesla TSLA $405.84 (1.13%) CEO Elon Musk and Amazon AMZN $228.22 (-0.78%) founder Jeff Bezos are no strangers to rivalry. The two visionaries already compete in space exploration, media, and AI ā and now their flagship public companies appear to be gearing up for another direct clash: the future of robotic delivery.
According to a new report from The Information, Musk has instructed Tesla engineers working on the companyās humanoid robot, Optimus, to ensure it can independently get in and out of the upcoming Cybercab robotaxi to handle package deliveries. If successful, Tesla could merge autonomous driving with humanoid robotics, pushing into a market Amazon has been aggressively preparing for.
Amazon has been steadily expanding its own robotics ecosystem for years, deploying warehouse robots at scale and developing autonomous delivery devices. The company has openly stated its intention to eventually use robots to handle the full delivery pipeline of its e-commerce empire.
Muskās vision would take Tesla into that same arena, potentially allowing Optimus to ride in a Cybercab, exit autonomously, drop off packages, and return to the vehicle without human assistance. Itās an ambitious next step in Muskās long-term plan to make Optimus a multipurpose labor robot capable of completing everyday tasks.
Both the Optimus robot and the Cybercab are reportedly slated for production next year, setting up what could become one of the most significant technology races of the decade.
If Tesla delivers on Muskās latest directive, the battle between two of the worldās most influential tech titans may soon play out right on consumersā doorsteps.
